ABOUT THE ARTIST

Amir Darabi, is a 23-year-old Iranian pianist and composer. At a very early age, he established himself as Iran’s upcoming piano prodigy by winning multiple prizes such as Iran’s Young Talented Musicians' prize for two years at the ages of five and eight. Having exposure to a vast variety of genres, he formed his unique musical style at the intersection of Jazz and Middle Eastern music which drew the attention of many well-known musicians in Iran and worldwide.

At the age of 18, he recorded his debut album “Lonely Hands” which was among Iran’s top five best-selling jazz albums and was also nominated for the best fusion composition at Barbad Music Award Festival. When he was 19, he moved to Boston to study Piano Performance at the prestigious Berklee College of Music under a full scholarship award. There, he began to dive even deeper into the music of his country and to combine it with the western elements. The result of this, is his new album “YAAL” which got released on Jan 2021.

Throughout his career, he has performed along the most reputable musicians in Iran and worldwide, such as Zakir Hussain, Homayoun Shajarian, Christophe Rezai and Alireza Ghorbani. He has also performed in the most notable music festivals such as Tehran Jazz Nights, Le Printemps Du Jazz Persan and Berklee Middle Eastern Festival.
