Above the Rim — A Solo Exhibition by Niko Karim-Strang
Diaspora Arts Connection invites you to experience Above the Rim, a powerful solo exhibition by local Berkeley artist Niko Karim-Strang, exploring basketball as a sacred and mythological art form.
Featuring over 25 works—paintings, drawings, and sculptural pieces—this exhibition reimagines the sport through the lens of fine art and devotion. Karim-Strang elevates basketball beyond the game, capturing it as a global symbol of grace, creativity, and reverence. His works draw from the language of religious iconography and historical portraiture, framing players as modern-day saints and the court as a hallowed space of transformation and beauty.
This is a celebration of basketball at its purest—its speed, elegance, and storytelling power.
